Abstract

The Mantegh-al-teyr, one of the most important texts in mystical literature, symbolizes humans' search for meaning and truth. To demonstrate more dimensions of this valuable work, the present study examines the relationship between the theory of logotherapy and the Mantegh-al-teyr. The present research method is a qualitative content analysis of thematic type. The main question of the research is whether the elements of Viktor Frankl's semantic therapy, the founder of the semantic therapy school, are present in the logic of the bird. The secondary question is whether the logic of the bird can have an effective cognitive application in the field of semantic therapy, which is one of the new approaches in psychology. The findings of this article show that love, acceptance of suffering, patience to achieve the goal, responsibility, changing attitudes towards challenges and the desire for truth are key factors in the journey of birds. Love as a driving force plays a significant role in the formation of meaning and in strengthening motivation and hope to face the challenges of their journey. Other factors that constitute the main and driving themes of the narrative are also significantly aligned with Frankl's semantic psychology. It was also shown in this study that the Simorgh of Mantegh-al-teyr can be a symbol of the highest levels of existence, individuality, and ultimate human evolution that is achieved in the path of searching for meaning.
